Vol. 7 No. 18 (2024): Food Security
The 18th edition of the seventh year (volume 7) of the "Diálogos Socioambientais" invites José Raimundo Sousa Ribeiro Junior (Associate Professor at the Federal University of ABC) to address the theme of Food Security. In this edition, the data provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is highlighted, showing that the current food production is sufficient to meet global needs. However, despite this, there has been a significant increase in the number of people experiencing hunger worldwide, indicating that hunger is a structural phenomenon.
This issue occurs after the most critical moments of the Covid-19 pandemic, which intensified hunger in many places. The texts gathered in this edition provide a rich and diverse debate on hunger and other issues related to food, approached from different theoretical and methodological perspectives.
