Abstract

In an increasingly competitive scenario, a common condition for the design of any product is the difficulty in predicting market acceptance, as well as the pressure to develop products in an accelerated way. Seeking the organization and systematization of product development practices arises the Product Development Process (PDP), which has received increasing focus within companies. This study seeks to apply PDP practices for the development of a plate with an attached scale that facilitates the routine of people who weigh their food. Based on Rozenfeld's reference model, tools such as QFD, SWOT analysis and project risk assessment were applied. As a result, a product was developed that meets the verified quality requirements, taking into account the needs of potential users and competition. The product prototype was designed and its production process detailed, as well as the market study, cost analysis and details of the product life cycle indicated the feasibility of the project.
