Abstract

This edition is an opportunity to explore the results and experiences of a study that sought to record the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although we are close to this event - the peak of the crisis occurred between 2020 and 2021 - it is still necessary to record, publicize, and discuss such a relevant historical moment. The ICOLMA project, which ran from 2022 to 2025, addressed the impact of COVID-19 on mobility and livelihoods of marginalized and vulnerable groups from a transatlantic perspective, proposed by the TA-P (Trans-Atlantic Platform) in 2021 in response to the pandemic. Knowledge about the complex ways in which pandemic and lockdown rules have affected livelihoods, both through direct mobility restrictions and the indirect effects of reduced mobility on the functioning of other public infrastructures and services, as well as on access to income-generating activities, must be deepened. The same applies to the specific ways in which groups have been and are able to cope with these effects, for example, through virtual technologies and solidarity networks.
