In the organizational environment, initiatives for the development of social projects require mechanisms to monitor and validate the scope of actions and results and the generation of planned change. In this context, the Theory of Change tool makes it possible to define the scope of action for projects and monitor the impact of interventions for subsequent application of an impact assessment methodology. Studies point out the importance of analyzing the impacts of social projects and programs. The objective of this research is to describe the contribution of the Theory of Change applied to projects as an instrument for managing organizations. The research methodology is characterized as exploratory. Through bibliometric research, works that describe the application of the Theory of Change in social projects were selected, which indicated that this practice contributes to validate and monitor the results and impacts of the actions and initiatives developed by organizations.
