Abstract

This article describes the Ceasa system as a support innovation for small businesses in the horticultural industry segment. A case study at Ceasa de Campinas/ SP seeks to understand how the Ceasas help expand microenterprises. The study found as remarkable information the fact that some companies in the system do not only structure business relationships. There is trust and camaraderie among entrepreneurs, despite the competitive environment and increasing demands for productive efficiency. Contrary to common sense, the experience of Ceasas demonstrates that some innovations can support the small family producer and reduce the rural exodus of micro entrepreneurs.
