Abstract

The changes in the economic environment and the rapid technological advances bring with them constant challenges for organizations. These challenges are addressed in the innovation economy in different situations by organizations, however the cost and difficulties cause risks. In this regard, the opening organizational boundaries through open innovation enhances the exchange of knowledge from external links. The purpose of this article is to analyze the context of open innovation in the early stages of the process, the front end of innovation (FEI). This study includes a set of Scopus scientific basis of documents to understand how the concept of open innovation is applied in the FEI activities. As a result, the article presents solutions on how open innovation can be integrated into different purposes in these activities
