Abstract

Usually studies on the role of entrepreneus immigrants are referenced to the nationalities and social groups. However, the countries of origin of these immigrants were never homogeneous. The cultural, economic, geographic each region; the constant changes in the borders of European countries and the different pace of economic transformations in these regions have created a huge variety of specific types of immigrants. A little studied aspect is the role of skills of these entrepreneurs immigrants in new and dynamic economic environments. The purpose of this article is to explore the appropriateness of using a set of conceptual tools of a cognitive-institutional model derived from the thought of Hayek and Veblen to the theory of human capital to study the entrepreneurial behavior of Tyrolean immigrants in Brazil.
