Abstract

The PANEX-Youth project investigated how young people from urban peripheral communities in São Paulo, especially Heliópolis and Paraisópolis, adapted to the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Using participatory methodologies, the research revealed resilience strategies in the face of deepening social inequalities, food insecurity, educational difficulties, restrictions on leisure, and mental health impacts. Community action and youth protagonism stood out as fundamental to confronting the crisis, pointing toward pathways for more inclusive and sustainable public policies.
