Abstract

This study documents and analyzes cases of resource-constrained innovation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, to deepen the understanding of the development trajectory of innovation projects in this context. Through a qualitative approach of exploratory character aligned with case studies collected, the study brings interviews in detail of innovations built during the pandemic, with the difficulty of disseminating the products to the market being the main problem found. As a result, the practical process of creating and developing a frugal innovation has been made explicit, bringing in inputs capable of guiding stakeholders based on cases that show real and recent examples of such a model. In addition, the cruciality of the active participation of Brazilian public universities in the process of supporting research and development becomes clear.
