The aim of this study was to identify Afro-entrepreneurs in the municipality of Almenara/MG, the motivations that led them to take up entrepreneurship and also to investigate how racism manifests itself in their experience. The research is classified as applied, exploratory, descriptive and qualitative. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews using a non-probabilistic snowball sampling method. The results point to the identification of 26 Afro-entrepreneurs who, for the most part, declare themselves to be brown, are aged between 31 and 40, have a low level of education and earn less than one minimum wage. It was also possible to observe that factors related to income (necessity) are the group's motivating factor for starting their own businesses.
